Lovely Closeup Patricia. My comment seems to have disappeared so I will give your the information again, This is a Bromeliad most probably of the Genus Noregelia. Bromeliaceae comprise a massive and complex family of herbs said to contain over 1100 species in sixty genera. Many of them are epiphytic but also grown in the ground and are indigenous to the West Indies,Central and South America. I have quite a few different ones growing in my backyard. l/f
