Description
The ruins of Dunluce Castle are located along the North Antrim coast in Ireland. It is thought that the castle dates from the 1400s. In the mid-1600s, part of the castle fell into the sea during a storm, and it became abandoned thereafter. Recent archaeological excavations have uncovered a well-preserved merchant town on the site dating from the early 1600s.

Oh that is so cool seeing the face in the clouds, I liked the power of the photo before, that just makes it so much better! v/f :o)
Patricia Strand replied:
Melissa, how nice of you! As one of my older images, I'm thrilled it's getting some attention. Many thanks!!
Evgeniy Lankin
The tragedy and hope, someone mystical portrait... Tales of Hoffmann mood! Well done, Patricia!
Luke Moore
Oh Wow, this is so cool! Love the angle and the mood. Love how there is really nothing on either side of the door and window. Fav/Vote
Patricia Strand replied:
Thanks, Luke! Yeah, it was really like that -- a facade standing alone just waiting to crash into the sea! Great place to visit.
Dean Harte
came back to revisit, vote and fav. Still see a mans face in the clouds :)
Patricia Strand replied:
I know! Since you guys pointed that out to me, that's all I see. LOL. Thanks again, Dean!
Odd Jeppesen
This looks like a place where dark deeds occur. It's certainly an image with many stories.
Patricia Strand replied:
Hi, Odd. Glad you stopped by, thanks! The creepiest story attached to this ruin was that one dark and stormy night long ago, parts of it fell to the ocean below, taking servants along with it... !
The Stone Age
I'm a sucker for stonework.... and you have done a wonderful job with this.
Patricia Strand replied:
I'm not surprised that you like stone work ! Thanks so much for the comment.
Randy Cummings
I see the lower portion of a man's face in the arch of the window. Nice work.
Patricia Strand replied:
Oh, my gosh. You are right! I can't believe I didn't see that, because I always see faces where there aren't any! Probably too close to the work, I guess. Thanks, Randy!
